EnergySmart offers comprehensive energy renovation services throughout Vermont.
After we perform building diagnostics in an energy audit, we provide a detailed list of recommendations and an estimate for the work. Since improvements in efficiency and comfort are seen almost immediately, we encourage our customers to move forward quickly with the energy improvements.
We only recommend improvements that will pay for themselves within 5-8 years. Longer time frame improvements, such as landscaping or replacing windows, can be useful parts of a residential energy efficiency plan, but our focus is on providing improvement in the near-term.
While we focus on "bang for the buck," invariably some improvements have a short payback and others recover the investment over more time. It is important to remember that the sum of the parts is greater than any individual measure. Very often, you won't see savings from the short payback activities if the longer term measures aren't also completed.
Our contractors are qualified and certified, with experience in hundreds of Vermont residential buildings. We provide all materials and equipment, and usually we finish a job in 2-3 days. Since most of our work is in the walls, attic and basement, you won't see a big change—but you will feel the difference!
The kinds of work we do on an energy renovation project includes:
- sealing gaps and air leaks
- installing foam insulation and densepack cellulose in walls and attics
- installing mechanical ventilation to control excess moisture in the building
In addition, we switch out light bulbs for compact fluorescents (if you have not already done so) throughout the building.
